Does cerazette stop periods?

For some people: yes. Cerazette (the progesterone only pill) works by stopping ovulation, thinning the uterine lining and creating a mucus plug in the cervix to prevent sperm entering the uterus. This pill works differently for different people.

For some people (about 1 in 3) this pill can completely stop periods, 1 in 3 may find their periods will become irregular, and they might experience some spotting, but this type of bleeding is manageable, and 1 in 3 might find they get continuous bleeding and they may have to change methods of contraception.

It can take a few months for your body to get used to your new pill and settle. The best time to review is after you have been taking it for 3 months.
