Does Rigevidon stop periods?

Rigevidon is a type of combined pill (COC), it contains artificial versions of the oestrogen and progesterone hormones.

The COC pill can be very useful for cycle control and usually makes bleeding regular, lighter and less painful, it can also help with premenstrual symptoms. However, it does not usually stop bleeding altogether.

How to take Rigevidon

For Rigevidon, you take one pill every day for 21 days, then stop for 7 days, and during this week you have a bleed like a period, referred to as a ‘withdrawal bleed’. You start the next pack after the 7 day break.

If you want to miss out a withdrawal bleed, it is safe to skip the 7 day break and start the next pack straight after you have finished the previous one; this will usually mean you do not have a withdrawal bleed.
